Once upon a time... Influenced by 1950’s children’s story book character’s
You will create a vintage style small textile piece of art. Using materials which have their own past, perhaps stained or frayed. Time worn fabrics with their own story to tell. You will decorate your sampler with hand appliqué and patchwork. Incorporate simple hand embroidery stiches inspired by classic motifs found on antique tablecloths, or cross stitch. Finally embellishing with vintage lace and buttons.
Think about telling a story? You could make the textile sampler more personal by adding some old photographs, letters or other personal mementos. This will be an opportunity to tell your own tiny tale and nudge the past into the present.
